STOCKTON—
Gold chain thefts continue to outpace arrests in the city of Stockton.

The latest victim, Donald Oxley, is bound to a wheelchair and can’t talk much because of a stroke. The suspects left him with his gold ring, but they stole his gold necklace while he was out near his house off West Lane.

“He can’t help himself. He can’t holler for help,” said Oxley’s daughter-in-law Brenda Smith.

Since March, Stockton Police have counted 127 gold chain robberies. This week, three men were arrested on suspicion of robbing a man of his gold chain while he pumped gas.

Stockton Police are working with local pawn shops to help them catch the thieves.
