While fighting the now month-old Chips Fire in the Plumas and Lassen National Forests, fire crews rescued a baby bobcat.

The bobcat was appropriately named “Chips.” She is being cared for by Lake Tahoe Wildlife Care, who will rehabilitate the kit with the eventual goal of being able to release her back into the wild.

With 87% containment, the Chips Fire has burned 74,125 acres. It started back on July 29.
