MODESTO–

Jorge Molina Amador, a popular bicycle ice cream man, is said to be the person whose body was found in a Modesto home Sunday morning.

Police were called to the home near Maple and Washington Streets after getting a call from new renters who had showed up to move in. Amador had only lived in the house for a few months, the landlord said.

The Stanislaus County Coroner confirmed Monday afternoon that Amador was stabbed.

The family subletting the rooms discovered Amador’s body in the back of the house. Investigators have said that it looks as if Amador suffered from a physical assault.

Amador had an ice cream cart he rode around with. He was popular with the kids from Franklin Elementary School – a school a little less than a mile down the road from the house he was found dead.

Neighbors and potential witnesses are said to have been interviewed, but police noted in a release that they have “limited investigative leads.”

Amador is said to have a wife living in Mexico who he is sending money to. His family is said to be at the Mexican consulate, trying to get his body back to Mexico.

“That’s messed up if he came from somewhere else and had to live right there and that’s how he ended his life,” said neighbor Darryl Clewis.

Amador’s landlord told FOX40 that Amador only lived in the home for two months.

Cecilio Padilla and Ian McDonald contributed to this report.
