Deputies arrested 24-year-old Jennifer Burgess on suspicion of burlgary.
Homeowner Randy Kizer said the young woman broke into his home Tuesday morning. Burgess opened the front door to Kizer as he walked up.
“She answers my front door and she goes, ‘I can explain,’ ” he recalled. “She was in my son’s robe and her hair’s wet, just out of the shower.”
We’ve all heard about alleged burglars breaking in and stealing items, but showering?
“‘Are you homeless?'” Kizer asked Burgess. “She goes, ‘Yeah.’ Have you been here before? ‘No.’ ”
But Kizer said the woman seemed to move about the home like she’d been there before.
“One of the dogs was laying on the floor here and this is the dog that jumps on everyone,” he said.
The dogs weren’t at all alarmed by her presence.
Kizer showed items taken from her pant pockets – $46 and a bunch of keys they owned.
Despite him calling deputies, who later took her into custody, Kizer said she behaved herself.
“It’s very creepy,” he added. “We had just bought video security, not installed yet. It is now.”
