Two Pets Die after Being Left in Hot Car

FAIR OAKS-

Two pets, a dog and a rat, are dead after being left in a hot car Tuesday afternoon.

Car was in the Madison Avenue PetCo store parking lot. An security guard in that shopping complex reportedly had to smash the car’s window with a hammer to get inside in an effort to rescue the animals.

Shopping security confirmed to FOX40 that the dog was a Dachshund. The woman reportedly told the security guard that she was in the middle of a dispute with her landlord over how many pets she’s allowed to have.

The woman’s car was reportedly parked in that spot since 8 a.m.

There’s no word on whether or not the pet owner will face charges.

Temperatures in Fair Oaks around when the dogs were found were in the low 80’s. On an 80-degree day, the temperature inside a car can reach 100 degrees in about 10 minutes. Those temperatures can be deadly to animals.

No excuse for this to happen. I agree with doglover let her roast in a hot oven for several hours. People have no common sense anymore.

There should be harsher charges on animal abuse. It might make stupid people think twice before hurting animals

First of all, I agree….. How many times do you people need to be told that animals can not be left in the car due to the car getting too hot. Off the bat it is a $500 fine for having them in the car. No Pun Intended, not the issue with the landlord is a mute issue at this point. Someone should get changed for their neglect and it certainly should not be me or the other tax payers, What more do we need to say or do to make you understand the consequences. What the freak,,,,,, I hate to say out you in a car and leave you there in that situation. Maybe it should be mandated to a week of dog training and caring and letting them watch video of what the possibilities or for that matter, show this owner what their animal went thru. What do we need to so to make you understand, these animals are our families, they feel, they need the essentials that we human need and they certainly give love so much better than any human, it's UNCONDITIONAL LOVE. If they had survived, they would have loved you nonetheless. WOW, Im Dumbfounded.

What do they mean it hasn’t been decided if charges should be filed. They really need to press serious charges.

Wether or not you are taking on more animals than you are allowed. That does not excuse the neglect. This was pure neglect and preventable. This pet owner belongs in jail

So qucik to judge. She probably loves those animals and is heart broken. Neglect and hurting animals on purpose should have stronger punishment but some people are not bright but still love their animals like crazy.
