Two Pets Die after Being Left in Hot Car
Two pets, a dog and a rat, are dead after being left in a hot car Tuesday afternoon.
Car was in the Madison Avenue PetCo store parking lot. An security guard in that shopping complex reportedly had to smash the car’s window with a hammer to get inside in an effort to rescue the animals.
Shopping security confirmed to FOX40 that the dog was a Dachshund. The woman reportedly told the security guard that she was in the middle of a dispute with her landlord over how many pets she’s allowed to have.
The woman’s car was reportedly parked in that spot since 8 a.m.
There’s no word on whether or not the pet owner will face charges.
Temperatures in Fair Oaks around when the dogs were found were in the low 80’s. On an 80-degree day, the temperature inside a car can reach 100 degrees in about 10 minutes. Those temperatures can be deadly to animals.
