The Yuba City Council has confirmed that a man who has sued businesses and municipalities across the state will be given $15,000.

West Sacramento man George Louie is being given the money so that he will not file any lawsuits against the city. A lawsuit Louie filed earlier this year against Yuba City forced the settlement.

The agreement also states that Louie will withdraw five other lawsuits against Yuba city businesses.

“This is a victory for the entire community of Yuba City,” said Mayor John Miller in a release. “It will allow the city and its businesses to move forward with making ADA improvements without the fear and expense of lawsuits from Mr. Louie.”

Louie’s lawsuits have targeted small-businesses and city government’s compliance issues with the Americans with Disability Act.

Yuba City notes that they allot $300,000 a year for correcting ADA compliance issues throughout the city.

Check back on for updates to this story, as FOX40 is attempting to get Louie’s side of the story.
