Thousands Without Power After Monday’s Storm
Monday’s storm brought down power lines and caused disruptions in power for thousands around Northern California.
More than 10,000 customers were without power as of 11:30 a.m. in the Merced area. First there was an outage along Highway 99 and Highway 59, then more and more outages were reported encompassing most of the area.
A few hours earlier, nearly 15,000 homes and businesses were without power in the Yosemite area. People in Oakhurst, Raymond and other areas near Yosemite National Park were without power for an hour or two before PG&E restored it.
Smaller outages of a couple hundred homes and businesses hit the towns of Williams, Rio Vista, and Sierra and Placer Counties.
In Sacramento County, which is serviced by SMUD, the agency is reporting a handful of smaller outages.
