YUBA CITY-
The California Highway Patrol says 25-year-old Rory Roguski died Wednesday night when the car he was riding in veered off Highway 20 in Yuba City and hit a wall.
The driver of the vehicle was Roguski’s friend, Erin Jasper.
She was driving intoxicated and was taken to Sutter Roseville Medical Center.
Roguski had been a Sheriff’s deputy for Sutter County for the past two years.
Sheriff Paul Parker described him as a well-liked guy with a an outgoing personality.
“When these things happen it always shocks the department,” said Parker.
In a statement, Roguski’s mother Paulette said, “Our family and friends have suffered a huge loss in this tragic accident. We have lost a great son, brother, nephew, and friend. Rory was a big guy with an even bigger heart.”
Jasper was arrested for DUI and faces charges of vehicular manslaughter.

probably for the same reason my husband (a police officer for 29 years) drives with a scotch and water in the cup holder of his truck – he is above the law.
