Police: Woman Fights Her Way Out of Sexual Assault

ELK GROVE-

Elk Grove Police released information Wednesday about an attempted sexual assault at a softball complex earlier in the week.

Officers say a man tried to attack a 37-year-old woman early Sunday evening in the parking lot of the softball complex at Elk Grove Regional Park. The woman was leaning into the back seat of her car when someone reportedly attacked her from behind.

The woman was able to punch her attacker a few times in the face before making her escape, police say. The man ran off on foot.

The alleged attacker is described as a 5-foot-9 Caucasian or Hispanic male weighing 165 pounds with beard stubble and messy hair. He’s supposed to be about 30 or 40 years old. He was seen wearing a black sweatshirt.

Police say the suspect should also look like he’s recently been in a fight. Look for “visible injuries to the face,” according to Elk Grove Police Officer Chris Trim.

Anyone with information about the assault is asked to call the Elk Grove Police Department at (916) 478-8060.
