Giants’ Buster Posey Wins National League MVP

With 27 first-place votes Thursday, San Francisco Giants catcher Buster Posey won the National League Most Valuable Player award, the MLB announced.

Posey earned a total of 422 points from the Basaball Writers Association of America. The Milwaukee Brewers’ Ryan Braun came in second with 285 points, and only three first-place votes.

He follows in the footsteps of Willie Mays and Willie McCovey as a Giants player that has won both Rookie of the Year (Posey won in 2010) and the MVP award.

The Detroit Tigers’ won the American League MVP award.
