A total of 31 people were displaced by a fire at their apartment complex Thursday night in Carmichael.
The Red Cross Capital Region Chapter announced shortly later that they’ll be helping those 31 people, making up 13 families, with a place to sleep for a night, food to eat and comfort kits.
The two-alarm fire damaged or completely gutted 16 apartments. One resident was burned and one firefighter was treated for smoke inhalation.
The blaze is believed to have been started by someone cooking.
