Crash Kills Utility Worker

A nasty crash kills a utility worker Friday morning in West Sacramento.

A PG&E truck drove into a traffic light pole on Washington Boulevard and S. Port Parkway. The driver of the truck, an on duty PG&E worker, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The worker was later identified as 57-year-old Tommy Flippo Jr of Woodland.

The intersection has been reopened as of 11:20 a.m., although temporary light control will be in effect along Lake Washington Boulevard.

Officials will continue to investigate the cause of the incident, but they note that weather conditions were “severe” at the time of the crash.
