It’s hard to imagine a fire starting when there’s rain pounding the streets.

Sacramento Metro Fire told FOX40 the inside a home on West 2nd and Withington Avenue, north of Elkhorn Boulevard in Rio Linda was nearly destroyed.

Firefighters said no one was in the house when it burned, but neighbors initially called in because they believed people were living in the garage.

Arson investigators are on scene Sunday morning as Sac Metro Fire begins cleaning the area.

The department told FOX40 the fire was started inside the home, although they still do not know the cause. If you have any information call the Sacramento Metropolitan Fire Department.

I grew up in that house for 20 years, it’s sad, I have so many good memories from that home. My grandpa bought that house in 1965 I believe, I will always miss those days with my family in that home.
