In an effort to feed hungry families throughout northern California, Raley’s is partnering with 72 food banks to distribute more than 100,000 pounds of turkey, chicken and ham.

More than 1,000 families will be fed through this partnership.

“We just think no family should go hungry this holiday season,” said Raley’s Community Relations Manager Jennie Teel-Wolter.

According to Feeding America, the nation’s largest hunger-relief charity, over 17 percent of residents in Sacramento County are food insecure, meaning they do not have access to enough food. Local food banks are vital to lowering that percentage.

“We’re blessed through this donation. We’ll serve over a 1,000 families with this, and they have 72 partner agencies so people will be blessed through this meat donation from all the way up to the Oregon coast down to the Central Valley,” said Blake Young, president and CEO of Sacramento Food Bank and Family Services.
