A man was arrested Tuesday evening on suspicion of killing his uncle over the weekend in Herald.
Sacramento County Sheriff’s deputies took 31-year-old Jerry King into custody and booked him into jail. King originally called 911 when his uncle was shot in the chest. Investigators believe King was the one who shot his uncle.
There were no witnesses to the shooting. King told dispatchers that he was inside and heard a gunshot outside. He said when he went outside, he found his uncle with a gunshot wound to the chest.
Homicide detectives following up on the case into the night and next day found a gun that had been tossed into the bushes behind the house, likely used in the shooting. Investigators also say a strained relationship with his uncle gave King motive to shoot him.
