The University of California is home to 37 Nobel laureates, 17 Fulbright scholars and now perhaps, the ugliest logo in all of higher education.
The change from the classic crest style, to graphic design major’s fantasy happened a few weeks ago.
The new logo, an all blue ‘U’ with a fading ‘C’ is drawing the ire of many, including Lieutenant Governor Gavin Newsom, who had this to say on his Twitter account, “As a member of the UC Regents, I agree, the new logo is a disaster. Sign the petition.”
A petition has started online demanding the new logo be removed from official websites.
UC officials say the logo is staying and they won’t be taking it down.
