SACRAMENTO -
Bounty hunter Leonard Padilla is encouraging people to exchange their guns for turkeys on Wednesday in Sacramento.
A press event for Padilla’s “Guns for Turkey” campaign is being held in an effort to get guns off the street from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. at Leonard Padilla Bail Bonds on 816 H Street.
Padilla said people first need to turn in their gun at a police department or sheriff’s office and then bring the receipt to his office for a coupon which they can then take to Raley’s for a free frozen turkey. Both registered and unregistered guns will be accepted.
The event at Padilla’s office includes a press conference, a Santa who will be passing out candy, and assistant in a turkey costume.
Councilman Kevin McCarty, who is known for his gun control efforts will also be attending part of the event.
The campaign goes until December 20.
