Man Accused of Raping Disabled Woman Appears in Court
The man accused of raping, and impregnating, a severely mentally and physically handicapped woman appeared in Placer County court Friday.
Marquise Montgomery, 22, had his bail increased from $150,000 to $500,000. Prosecutors attribute the increase in bail to what Montgomery allegedly said during questioning. He’s also accused of selling drugs after he went into hiding after the alleged rape.
Montgomery was assigned a public defender and pleaded not guilty.
Prosecutors alluded that Montgomery had some kind of trouble with the law in 2007, while he worked the graveyard shift at a care facility in Penryn.
The woman gave birth in February, with reportedly no family showing up. The baby is said to be doing fine and is perfectly healthy.
Montgomery will be back in court Wednesday.
