STOCKTON–

An early morning stabbing has left a 39-year-old man dead. A suspect is already in custody.

The stabbing was reported around 2:40 a.m. near Lan Ark Drive and Prado Way. Once police got the scene, they found a man, Joseph Tucker, suffering from multiple stab wounds.

Tucker was transported to the hospital, but later died from his injuries.

During their investigation, homicide detectives were able to identify the suspect as 40-year-old Fred Bonner.

Bonner was apparently an acquaintance of Tucker. Detectives note that some sort of fight inside an apartment led to the stabbing.

After issuing and arrest warrant for Bonner, U.S. Marshals and County Wide Gang Task Force officers were able to catch up to and arrest him near Etna Street and San Carlos Way.

Detectives will interview Bonner before booking him into San Joaquin County Jail.
