Mushrooms Sprout Up from Mold in Woman’s Apartment

SACRAMENTO-

A Sacramento woman says her landlord has done nothing to help with the flooding problem her apartment has, even after mushrooms have begun to sprout up from the mold.

“I looked down to vacuum and I saw this (fungus growing in the carpet),” renter Natalie Wise told FOX40. “At first, I thought he (Wise’s son) had peeled an orange, and I got down closer and I realized it was a mushroom.”

Wise and her 11-year-old son, who has severe asthma, have lived in the Diablo Riviera Apartments on Fulton Avenue for two years. In that time, Wise said that their apartment has flooded six times.

“At first, I called the resident manager and it’s very rare that someone can treat me with such contempt,” Wise said about reporting the flooding problem.

Wise then tried to call and email Whisler Land Company, the owner of the property. She got little to no response.

FOX40 tried contacting the resident manager at home and over the phone, with no avail. Wisler Land Company told FOX40 that no one was available to speak.

James Myers filed this report.
