Are the French Saying ‘Au Revoir’ to Homework?

SACRAMENTO-

No homework sounds like a dream to many students, but that dream may soon become a reality in France.

The rationale behind doing away with homework for elementary and junior high students all boils down to income. The French government believes it’s harder to do homework in a low income environment that it would be in higher income surroundings.

FOX40 brought the study to Sac State Prof. Lisa Romero.

“Not everyone has parents that can help with algebra or help with chemistry or help with (trigonometry). That’s just a fact,” Romero said.

Most students FOX40 spoke with, regardless of family income level, thought banning homework was a bad idea.
