CHP: Ceres Man Hit while Running Across Highway 99

MODESTO-

CHP officers in San Joaquin county believe a recurring problem in their area has turned fatal.

A Ceres man was killed around 6:30 Tuesday when investigators say he ran across the highway.

A Merced driver in a Chevy Tahoe headed south on Highway 99 couldn’t avoid him and slammed into him at Hatch Road – killing him.

CHP Officer Michael Ferreira says the homeless frequently run across Highway 99 in this area.

The victim’s I.D. is being withheld pending notification of family members.

The driver who hit him will not face charges.
