Neighbors Wake Up to Gunshots, Sirens and Man Barricaded in Home
OAK PARK –
Oak Park neighbors woke up to gunshots, police sirens and a man barricaded in his home early Friday morning.
Neighbors near 12th Avenue and 33rd Street heard shots fired and called police around 2 a.m.
Police set up a perimeter around the home where the shots were believed to have come from. They also released K9 units and sent up a helicopter to fly over the home.
Police tried to contact the man with a bullhorn. He opened and closed his front door and then barricaded himself back in his home.
Police eventually broke down the perimeter. They said the man has a history of alcohol related incidents and do not believe he is a credible threat.
