Snowboarder Killed in Donner Ski Ranch Avalanche

A snowboarder was killed Monday morning after getting caught up in an avalanche at Donner Ski Ranch, Nevada County Sheriff’s deputies say.

A friend of the snowboarder reported him missing around noon. Search and rescue teams from Nevada and Placer Counties, along with crews from Donner Ski Ranch, were eventually able to find a body at about 1:30 p.m.

The body of a man, believed to be the same man reported missing earlier in the day, was found buried under between two and three feet of snow.

Only one person was reported in the avalanche, which happened shortly before 9:30 a.m. Monday.

The name of the man has not been released.
