Just before the doors to the Westfield Galleria at Roseville’s Crate & Barrel opened at 8 a.m. the line wrapped around the corner.
It looked like a scene from Black Friday, but shoppers said the deals are better the day after Christmas and make it a point to shop.
Lindsay Kirk said it’s part of a family tradition, “We each get a certain amount of money and go shopping around.”
It is also a tradition for Laurie Gossy. “I tell my husband go away. It’ll be alright,” she laughed.
Gossy came to the Galleria with one goal in mind. “Just for one store,” she said about Crate and Barrel, “Be there at 8 o’clock and then we’re heading off the southern California today, but I can rest knowing that my Christmas shopping for next year is pretty much done.”
While Gossy got everything done in 30 minutes other shoppers, like Sarah Kirk, will take some time. “I have like $200 left,” said Kirk, “A lot (more shopping to do).”
On the day after Christmas typically brings up the idea of stores filled with people returning or exchanging gifts, but we could only find one.
Turns out the deals the day after Christmas can be better than Black Friday, because a lot stores are trying to get rid of their inventory before the start of the New Year.
Debbie Griewe said she saves about $500 shopping on December 26.
Germain Baskett loves the deals which can be 50-60%. “I won’t pay full price for anything,” she said, “It always feels good to save money, and my husband will be glad I said that.”
