Mugshot: Ba Shay Jorgenson

A man was arrested on Christmas Day for physically assaulting two people and trying to steal their sleeping bags.

Auburn PD arrived at Elm Avenue and Grass Valley Highway just before 7:30 p.m. after getting a report of a fight. At the scene, they found a woman who had lacerations on her face.

Apparently, the woman and man were punched in the face by 32-year-old Ba Shay Jorgenson, a transient in the area. Jorgenson was allegedly trying to take the two’s sleeping bags.

The woman had to be transported to Auburn Faith Hospital, where she got stitches to close one of the lacerations. The man declined treatment.

Jorgenson ran from the area by the time police showed up, but officers caught up to him a short distance away. He now faces charges of attempted robbery and battery with great bodily injury.
