Student Volunteers Give Stockton City Hall a Facelift
It’s not going to change the issues that the City of Stockton is dealing with, but it can help the way people perceive the city — or at least its main building.
Built in 1926, the facade outside the main entrance at Stockton’s City Hall is not in good condition. But some local student volunteers are hoping their effort will help.
YouthBuild San Joaquin used Monday morning to help repaint a couple of pillars on the steps of city hall.
Gabriel Flores is one of a handful of volunteers helping out. For him, this is personal.
“My brother was killed by a stray bullet at a party a couple of years ago, I know the bad that happens here, but I want to help change,” Flores said.
The group Stockton Forward is heading the fresh look project, they hope to re-do the outside of the building with little or no cost to the city.
