WOODLAND–
Two men in Woodland were arrested for allegedly firing some guns into the air early New Year’s morning.
Police say “numerous” people reported that two men were shooting a shotgun and handgun in the air along Elizabeth Way off of W Cross Street just after 2:30 a.m.
Officers got to the scene and found two men they say matched the description of the reported suspects in the front yard of a home. The men were detained while officers started investigating – finding some shotgun shells in the yard and a shotgun inside of an SUV.
The men, 32-year-old Woodland resident Jed Tranquilino Flores Torres and 31-year-old Sacramento resident Cesar Carabez, were arrested.
Torres faces charges of reckless discharge of a firearm and illegally possessing a firearm (thanks to being a convicted felon). Carabez faces accessory to a felony charges.
Police note that no one in the area has been hurt as a result of the shooting. As many local law enforcement agencies have warned, firing a gun into the air can have deadly consequences.
