A Sacramento mother was arrested on child endangerment charges, but it was her own call to 911 that led deputies to her filthy apartment, according to Sheriff’s deputies.

Christina Miligan, 30, reported her 9-year-old son missing from their apartment off French Road in Sacramento. Deputies responded over the weekend, and say they found that the boy hadn’t even left the apartment.

The boy was soaked in urine, playing with an e-reader in a bedroom, say authorities.

Deputies say the apartment was filthy and smelled of rotting food and bodily fluids.

Misdemeanors do not normally result in arrest, but deputies felt compelled to do so in this case.

Her children were turned over to child protective services.

Miligan will be in court Jan. 16.
