Family members are saying it started in the stupidest way.
“Just over a spilled drink and one thing lead to another,” said Isaiah Cordova.
He is the son of 35-year-old Gabriel Cordova, who was killed New Year’s Eve in the Old Sacramento shooting that left two dead, three more injured, and brought the City’s New Year celebration to a sudden, terrifying end.
“I was in disbelief. I can’t belive it. I’m shocked still. I’m waiting for him to come home, but he’s not coming home,” Isaiah Cordova said of his father’s death.
Police say Gabriel Cordova’s wife Christina was with him New Year’s Eve, that she was there in the Sport’s Corner bar when things started to get out-of-hand, and that she was also shot.
She is still in hospital but expected to survive. She began 2013 a widow.
“A family with no father, no one to lean on,” is how Isaiah Cordova describes it.
