A lot of people are eager to join the California Highway Patrol.

Last week, those interested in becoming a cadet could apply for a position during a limited three day window, and more than 20,000 filled out the online application.

Applications were accepted from 7 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 2 through 11:59 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 5.

Up next for the cadet hopefuls, a series of psychical and mental tests that will whittle the class down to about 150, who are qualified to become CHP officers.
