A Nissan and Honda collided in Sacramento, killing one person and closing off part of a highway early Monday morning.
It happened after one car tried to pass another while driving through the fog on Eagles Nest Road and Highway 16 around 4 a.m.
A woman and her 13-year-old daughter in the Honda were uninjured but taken to the hospital for precautionary measures. The man in the Nissan died. He was not wearing his seat belt, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The accident closed off Highway 16 from Excelsior Road to Eagles Nest Road for a few hours.
Investigators are now looking for the car that apparently one of the other two cars tried to pass. They want to speak to that driver to get more information on the accident.
