STOCKTON—
A suspect, who police later learned was an escapee from the San Joaquin County Honor Farm, led police on a chase Monday afternoon.
Police say they spotted a stolen car near Mariposa Road and Highway 99 just before 4:30 p.m. Officers tried to pull the car over, but the suspect wouldn’t comply.
After about a three-minute chase, the suspect bailed near some railroad tracks.
An “extensive” search followed, with a police K-9 finally apprehending the man.
Police later learned that the man, 29-year-old Stockton resident John Foster, was an escapee from the San Joaquin Honor Farm – although it is not clear when he escaped.
Foster now faces stolen vehicle and traffic-related charges.
