SOUTH LAKE TAHOE-
A snowboarder reported missing by his brother spent a cold night in the Sierra, in a casino.
Douglas County deputies were contacted Thursday morning after increased media attention by the missing snowboarder’s family. They said the snowboarder was unaware his brother had reported him missing.
The snowboarder and his brother were at Heavenly Wednesday, and at some point became separated. The man spent Wednesday night at the Horizon Hotel and Casino, which was different than what his brother believed was going to happen.
Douglas County officials say the search utilized 75 people from several jurisdictions and volunteer organizations, plus two helicopters, at a total cost of about $40,000.
