As temperatures slowly drop, Sacramento residents begin preparing by covering their precious plants and flowers.
“It makes the yard and the house pop because the house is dark and with the white it looks like snow,” Claudia Blackmon said.
Blackmon has seen her white Azaleas hurt by freezing temperatures in the past, but this time she is ready.
“I had burlap, but I had to cover the back too so I have resorted to sheets and towels.”
Overnight temperatures are expected to hit the teens for an extended period, prompting a hard freeze warning throughout Northern California from 3 a.m. until 9 a.m. Sunday.
Experts recommend people cover exposed piping, plants and anything that could get damaged.
