Sacramento City Unified May Close 11 Schools

SACRAMENTO-

The Sacramento City Unified School District officials say they’re considering closing 11 elementary schools.

Bret Harte Elementary, C. P. Huntington Elementary, Fruit Ridge Elementary, James Marshall Elementary, Joseph Bonheim Elementary, C. B. Wire Elementary, Mark Hopkins Elementary, Tahoe Elementary, Washington Elementary, Susan B. Anthony Elementary and Maple Elementary all face closure.

District officials say the schools may be closed because of a drop in attendance and the district could save $10 million.

The district will discuss the closures at a meeting Thursday, but won’t make a final vote until Feb. 21.

Ok that’s great we will be saving 10 million dollars, but where will some of the Tahoe park kids go or the other school kids. I live right by Tahoe school and the only closest school right by us is Phoebe Hearst, and that school is only for advanced learning children.

"They are not thinking about the kids" You are right, they are not thinking about kids. If you were following national news closer, you would learn that school system is run by teachers union, primarely concerned about teachers, pay, benefits etc. There is many great and dedicated teachers, but they can't do much. It is rotten system. If you have chance do homeschooling, your kids will learn more and have better future. Cheers

Not just tahoe kids, but all of these other schools. What does saving 10million mean to cut the education of our children.
