Police say that a Woodland man took matters into his own hands and detained a burglary suspect Saturday morning.
Officers showed up at a home near Fourth Street and Lincoln Avenue around 6 a.m. after getting a report of a possible fight in progress. At the scene, they found that a home owner had pinned down someone he says was stealing power tools out of his garage.
That man being pinned down was 55-year-old Woodland resident Michael Gabriel Luna. Medical aid had to be called for Luna, and he was later taken to the hospital.
As the home owner later told police, Luna is suspected of taking a rototiller and other power tools. The home owner says that his garage had been broken open.
A further investigation led police to Luna’s home along Sixth Street, where more than $4,000 worth of the home owner’s equipment.
Luna was arrested after being medically cleared from Woodland Memorial Hospital. He faces one count of first degree burglary.
