STOCKTON–
Three men were arrested in Stockton early Tuesday evening after officers on patrol saw some gunfire.
Police say that around 6:20, Community Response Team officers and U.S. Marshals were doing some surveillance when some gunfire erupted from a nearby car.
The officers sent out a description and other officers spotted a similar-looking car near Kelley Drive and Beaufort Avenue a short time later.
As officers approached the suspects, one man – 26-year-old Michael Latin – tried run, dropping a handgun in the process. He was soon arrested.
Another man, 21-year-old Joshua Williams, showed up at the scene and tried to go inside a home. But, police stopped him and then entered the home themselves, where they found more weapons and some drugs.
In total, authorities found a duffel bag with an assault weapon (which looked to have been thrown out of a bedroom window), a reportedly stolen handgun, a bullet proof vest, and some methamphetamine pills.
William Davis, a 22-year-old man, was also arrested. All three men face weapons charges. Both Williams and Davis also face narcotics charges, while Latin also faces resisting arrest.
