Students Report Headaches, Gas Smell at School

Sacramento County Sheriffs deputies respond to Helen Carr Castello School

Emergency crews are checking out a handful of students after reports of a natural gas smell at an elementary school.

Sacramento County Sheriff’s deputies and PG&E representatives were called to Helen Carr Castello Elementary School Friday morning.

Several students told officials they had headaches and felt nauseous. The teacher could smell gas in the classroom, so they evacuated that building.

A teacher, eight students and a janitor were checked out at the school.

PG&E crews have not detected a gas leak at this time, and class continued.
