John Moore says up to 15 officers with the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department fanned out in his home, making him feel like he was the criminal.
More has an idea of how he would have done the parole search – he’s a retired parole agent, with the Department of Corrections confirming that fact.
Ironically, his step-son is on parole. That’s who the county was checking on.
“They should have come in here with respect for the people that were living here, which they did not,” Moore says.
Moore wonders if more than a dozen officers was overkill, but that’s not how the department sees it.
“Generally speaking, there’s strength in numbers. And I can tell you first hand from working in a gang unit for seven years, we’d rather have more officers, or certainly enough there present to deal with whatever scenario comes up,” says Sergeant Jason Ramos with the department.
