A pedestrian was hit and killed Tuesday morning by a car in what authorities are saying is just a horrible accident.
CHP says that a man out walking near Fair Oaks Boulevard and Marshall Avenue accidentally tripped on the gutter or curb and fell onto westbound Fair Oaks.
The driver of a Chevy truck saw him but couldn’t stop in time. CHP notes that the truck didn’t crash into him, but rather ran over him.
An off duty fire paramedic and nurse that happened to be in the area tried to help the man, giving him CPR, but he was later pronounced dead at the scene.
The victim’s shoes came off after being hit; however, CHP notes that this is not necessarily an indication of how fast the truck was going.
Authorities note that the driver of the truck has been fully cooperating.
