Police now say that they believe the Friday morning fire where crews found a man dead was intentionally set by someone other than the victim.
The coroner’s office identified the man found dead as 32-year-old Patrick Kendrick earlier Saturday.
Authorities now say that Kendrick sustained “multiple traumatic injuries” to his upper body, but investigators are still looking into the cause of death. Due to the injuries, however, the case is being treated as a homicide.
Firefighters had called in homicide detectives after they found a dead body in the remains of a house fire along Norwood Avenue just south of I-80 late Friday morning.
A suspect was seen leaving the area in a white 1990’s Honda Civic. The car was missing its front hubcaps.
As reported later Friday afternoon, witnesses reported that the man inside the home was allegedly alive while the fire was burning.
