Colin Kaepernick means everything to Turlock, so the city designated Saturday as “Colin Kapernick Day.”
“We hereby encourage all citizens in our community to celebrate the outstanding achievements of the San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick,” said Turlock Mayor John Lazar.
In a sea of number 7 jerseys, hundreds took to Pitman High School to show their support.
“His values and his work ethic is something to be proud of … It gives us something to really root for,” said Turlock’s Chief of Police Rob Jackson.
And with the 49ers heading to the Super Bowl, Kaepernick has given Turlock a lot to cheer about.
“I love how he brought the city together. Now we have all these Niner fans cheering him on. I’m glad he did this for Turlock,” said one kid.
