SACRAMENTO—

A 24-year-old woman was arrested early Sunday after a deadly car accident that police suspect was the result of DUI.

Police showed up near El Camino Avenue and Colfax Street around 3:46 a.m. after a two car accident where two people were said to have been ejected.

At the scene, authorities found that a SUV was hit from behind by a sedan, making the SUV lose control and crash into a tree. The resulting crash ejected two people from the SUV, with one of them pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say that the driver of the sedan, 24-year-old Reena Ashlie Sanchez, was intoxicated at the time of the crash. Her children were in the backseat of the car.

Sachez was taken to the hospital, as well as her children as a precaution. She was eventually released and arrested by police, facing vehicular manslaughter and child endangerment charges. Her children are in protective custody.
