A woman was hit and killed by a car Monday night at a roadside vigil for someone hit and killed by a car a day earlier.
The vigil was along El Camino Avenue near Colfax Street. Demaris Ingram died there early Sunday morning in what investigators say was an alcohol-related crash. The driver was arrested.
The 79-year-old woman killed Monday evening was crossing the street to leave flowers. She reportedly did not know Sunday’s victim, but lived across the street from where Ingram was hit. She was killed instantly, officers say.
Police say the driver in Monday’s crash was not driving under the influence or was driving too fast. That section El Camino Avenue is known to be very dark at night, but still very busy.
