Police Investigating Death of Infant After Meth Found in System
Police say they are investigating the death of a 44-day-old baby girl after a toxicology report found meth in the child’s system.
The original incident dates back to Dec. 11, when police got a call from a house near Obsidian Drive and Navajo Court. The infant was taken to the hospital but died.
Officials at the time ruled the infant’s death as possibly accidental or a case of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome, but a toxicology report received weeks later showed the presence of methamphetamine.
No arrests have been made as of Wednesday, but police say they are working with the district attorney’s office on the case.
Police say the infant was living with her mother and her mother’s husband (who is not the childn’s father) at the time of the incident.
