Nevada City residents weren’t too worried about the less than half an inch of snow heading their way.
“When I was growing up it would be 2 or three feet during the winter time with one storm. Nowadays one storm will produce two or three inches,” said Tom Lake
As they waited for snow, light hail and rain came down.
Further east, up the mountains on Highway 20, fresh white powder covered roadways.
Snow plows and sand was on hand to clear the roads.
While Nevada city residents don’t see the kind of snow pack they saw years ago, they do worry about black ice on the highways from freezing temperatures.
