Fairfield authorities are saying that they have talked to Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department investigators over similarities in cases they’re both investigating.

Genelle Conway-Allen, 13, was found dead in Fairfield’s Allen Witt park last Friday morning. Investigators say she was murdered.

Although Fairfield authorities won’t say which cases they are sharing notes on, the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a similar murder that happened back in March 2012. Another 13-year-old, Jessica Funk-Haslam, was found dead in the dugout of the baseball field at Rosemont Park.

Funk-Haslam’s murder remains unsolved.

The investigation into Conway-Allen’s murder is ongoing, with the FBI and Department of Justice having joined in on the effort.
