Driver Mistakes Gas for Brake, Slams into Three Rancho Cordova Businesses
You might expect to see a drive-through window at a Salvadorian restaurant but certainly not one carved by a car in the middle of a strip mall, and probably not one that extends from a restaurant, to a computer shop, to the neighboring dry cleaners.
John Parks Jr. was sitting right next to a window, settling in for a laptop tune-up when a Toyota hit him and nearly ended up in his lap.
“I jumped up. It hit my leg. I spin with the chair and my laptop goes flying. I cheated death, basically survived. Lived to tell the story,” said Parks.
Parks’ body and mind were left spinning as part of Computer’s Era crumpled around him.
Everyone near was stunned by what they saw.
“[I saw] police coming back to back to back down the street,” said witness Ayanna Thompson.
The driver of the car was actually coming to the cleaners she damaged.
Jung O’Donnell says she was dropping off food to friends there and while trying to park, she hit the gas and instead of the brakes.
Since police say all this was purely accidental no charges will be filed but that doesn’t sit well with everyone.
“When she got out she was like laughing. ‘I’m crazy, haha,'” said Thompson.
“The lady started laughing about it after, saying, ‘I’m crazy.’ No, you almost killed me. That’s not funny,” said Parks.
