5.1 Quake Shakes California-Nevada Border
An earthquake rattled the California-Nevada border Tuesday afternoon, just before rush hour.
The magnitude 5.1 quake was centered near the town of Tonopah, Nevada, which is about 118 miles north of Clovis and 122 miles south of South Lake Tahoe.
The USGS, which tracks earthquakes, says the shaking would have been felt on both sides of the border.
Following the first quake at 4 p.m., three others were reported with magnitudes around 3 within an hour.
